No visit to Australia is complete without a visit to Perth. The city enjoys some amazing weather, has beautiful countryside nearby and is both modern and vibrant. Perth living melds coastal and city living together and you’ll never be short of things to do when you’re here. With this in mind, here are the top 5 things to do when you’re in Perth:

1.       Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island

Located off the coast of the mainland, Rottnest Island is an idyllic spot. It’s small enough to explore by foot, boat or bike. In fact, you could spend hour after hour just enjoying everything Rottnest has to offer. There’s wonderful wildlife to be seen such as green turtles, humpback whales, fur seals and the oh-so-cute quokka. There are also so many outdoor activities to enjoy!

2.       Horse Riding

Horse Riding

There are many horse riding businesses in the Perth area that cater to people of all ability levels. It’s awesome to get out into the great outdoors to see the wildlife and sights.

3.       Penguin Island

Penguin Island

Take a trip of around 45 minutes south of Perth and you’ll end up in the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park where you can see the wildlife of Penguin Island. Of course, as the name suggests, there are penguins to be seen, as well dolphins, sea lions, pelicans and more! Top tip: Look in on the Discovery Centre to see the penguins up close!

4.       Perth Zoo

Perth Zoo

Over twelve decades, Perth Zoo has grown from a place of recreation and fascination to one of education, conservation and inspiration. Next time you visit, keep an eye out for some of the historical echoes still standing by following the Zoo’s ‘Heritage Trail’.

5.       King’s Park

King’s Park

King’s Park is to be found on Fraser Avenue, West Perth and is the oasis in the city where people come to to relax and to have fun. With beautiful views, the park is one of the most spacious in the country. The Botanic Gardens are a ‘must-see’ and there are plenty of child-friendly areas, as well as a few playgrounds to keep the little ones entertained!

There are so many amazing places to visit in Perth that it wouldn’t be possible to list them all here. Just go and explore. You’ll have the time of your life!
