The capital of Western Australia, Perth is a modern and bustling city. There’s also plenty to see and do if you enjoy a more relaxed way of living. The suburbs are lined with beautiful sandy beaches, you can enjoy some people-watching in Kings Park and can marvel at the amazing views of the city itself from the Botanic Garden on Mt. Eliza.

Perth City

If culture’s your thing, Perth tourist attractions will leave you spoiled for choice. A trip to the Perth Cultural Centre is a must. Here, you can take in an opera or ballet. You can also visit art galleries, the theatre and the Western Australia Museum.

Fremantle

If you’d like to explore the wider area, Fremantle (or Freo as the locals call it) should be one of your stops. When you walk down High Street it is lined with old buildings, it’s as though time has stood still. You can even imagine a horse and cart plodding down the road! Whilst in the Fremantle area, don’t forget to stop off at Eagle Wools, a truly unique gift shop where everything is Australian and locally made. You can pick up some unique souvenirs to take home as a reminder of your visit. Other attractions in this quirky and untouched city include the Fremantle Prison, Roundhouse and Fremantle market. Fremantle is an excellent place to eat out. In fact, the locals say that Freo boasts some of the best coffee in the world!

Swan Valley

The Swan Valley is around a 25 minute drive from Perth. The area is famous for its chocolate factory, wineries and breweries where you can stop off for a cold beer or cider.

Wave Rock

Another ‘must see’ is the breath-taking Wave Rock. This natural rock formation looks like a giant breaking wave and is approximately 110 metres in length.

Margaret River

No visit to the area is complete without a stop at the small town of Margaret River. Here you can find wineries, boutique shops and craft breweries. You can also enjoy a spot of whale watching and a generally easier pace of life.

Albany

If the Western Australian climate gets too much for you, the five hour drive or even a short flight to Albany is worth it. The temperature here is always around 5 degrees cooler than elsewhere in the region and the beaches are incredible.

Broome

Finally, Broome is a popular stop off for cruise ships with its local pearl farms, beautiful coastline and camel-lined beach. It is a long drive from Perth, but if you are here for a while and want to experience everything WA has to offer you need to visit Broome.
